Today, Institute of Management in Economic, Environmental and Social Systems is a structural subdivision of Southern Federal University with more than 25 years of historic development and high level of established achievements in scientific and teaching spheres. The Institute unites 10 Departments with more than 20 Professors with Doctoral degree and 80 Associate Professors who form scientific and pedagogical potential of the educational institution.

The objectives of the Institute are:

  • implementation of educational activities at all levels of education structure at Higher School: undergraduate, graduate, continuing professional education;
  • working out scientific research on priority directions of scientific and educational activities of the Southern Federal University: environmental security, information technology, humanitarian technologies, human capital development model as well as tolerant socio-economic communities collaboration in the multiethnic regions of Russia;
  • development of new priority directions of scientific and educational activities of Southern Federal University: convergent technologies for sustainable development of the society, based on the integration of social, humanitarian and technical sciences;
  • creation of a multidisciplinary integrated educational environment «education-science-business.»

IMES history

Institute of Management in Economic, Environmental and Social Systems (IMES) was created by execution of the Order N 507-OD in December 25, 2013, entitled » The establishment of Institutions in the structure of Engineering-Technological Academy» which was aimed at carrying out the process of reorganization of the Faculty of Management in Economic and Social Systems and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Humanities at Engineering-Technological Academy (ETA) of Southern Federal University (SFedU).

The faculty of Management in Economic and Social Systems was formed in 1995 with the purpose of training of professionals in the spheres of Economics, Management and Law. The duties of the Dean of the faculty, from 1995 to 2011, were permanently performed by Professor Gennady I. Ivanov, Doctor of Technical Sciences. From 2012 to 2014, the Department was headed by Professor Inna K. Shevchenko, Doctor of Economic Sciences. From 2014 to 2015, Professor Victor V. Petrov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, was the Director of the Institute of Management in Economic, Environmental and Social Systems.

From September 28, 2016, Professor Pavel V. Pavlov, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Doctor of Law Sciences, is the Director of the Institute of Management in Economic, Environmental and Social Systems.
